These Terms of Service explain the rules and conditions for using SmartScan.
By installing or using SmartScan, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the application.
SmartScan is a document scanning and OCR application.
Depending on the features available in your version of the application, SmartScan may allow you to:
You retain ownership of the documents, images, and text that you process using SmartScan.
SmartScan does not claim ownership of your personal documents.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right or permission to scan, copy, store, process, or back up any document that you use with SmartScan.
You should not use SmartScan to access, copy, distribute, or process documents in a way that violates another person's privacy, copyright, confidentiality, or other legal rights.
SmartScan is designed to store your documents and OCR information on your device.
You are responsible for protecting your device and maintaining backups of important documents.
If your device is lost, damaged, reset, or replaced, or if SmartScan is uninstalled or its application data is deleted, locally stored documents may be permanently lost.
Google Drive Backup is an optional feature.
If you enable it, SmartScan uses Google Sign-In and Google Drive to back up selected documents to your own Google Drive account.
SmartScan does not operate its own cloud storage service for your documents.
You are responsible for your Google account and for managing the files stored in your Google Drive.
You should ensure that your Google account is properly secured.
Google's applicable terms and policies also apply when you use Google Drive.
SmartScan may require you to sign in with Google to use Google Drive Backup.
When you use Google Drive Backup, you authorize SmartScan to access the Google services and Google Drive information necessary to provide the backup feature you have chosen to use.
You can revoke SmartScan's access through your Google Account settings.
If you revoke access, Google Drive Backup may no longer work until you authorize access again.
SmartScan uses OCR technology to recognize text from scanned documents, including multiple languages and scripts (such as Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Devanagari) when you choose them. Language detection for Auto mode and text recognition are performed on your device.
OCR results are generated automatically and may contain errors.
SmartScan does not guarantee that OCR results will be completely accurate, complete, or reliable.
You should verify important information against the original document before relying on OCR results.
Page editing (reorder, rotate, delete, split, merge) and document signing run fully on your device. Your drawn signature is stored only on your phone.
SmartScan uses your device's camera when you choose to scan a document.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have permission to photograph, scan, copy, or process the documents you use with SmartScan, including any photo you import from your device's gallery to use as a scan page.
SmartScan does not grant you any rights to documents or materials belonging to other people or organizations.
The free version of SmartScan may display advertisements provided by Google AdMob.
Advertising is subject to applicable Google policies and requirements.
SmartScan does not use your scanned documents or OCR text as advertising material or for selecting advertisements.
Premium may remove advertisements according to the Premium features offered in the application.
SmartScan may offer Premium features through Google Play.
The price and features shown at the time of purchase apply to the applicable purchase.
Payments are processed by Google Play.
SmartScan does not receive or store your payment-card information.
Purchases, refunds, cancellations, and payment-related matters are subject to applicable Google Play policies and procedures.
SmartScan may send notifications related to application features, backup status, reminders, updates, or other app-related information.
You can control notifications through your Android device settings and, where available, SmartScan's settings.
You agree not to use SmartScan:
We try to keep SmartScan reliable and useful, but we cannot guarantee that the application will always be available, uninterrupted, or completely free of errors.
SmartScan features may be modified, improved, suspended, or discontinued.
Third-party services used by SmartScan, including Google services, may also change, become temporarily unavailable, or discontinue features independently of SmartScan.
You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important documents.
Google Drive Backup is provided as a backup convenience and should not be considered a guaranteed archival or disaster-recovery service.
SmartScan is not responsible for data loss caused by, for example:
SmartScan relies on third-party services, primarily Google services, for certain features.
These services may include:
Third-party services are controlled by their respective providers and are subject to their own terms, policies, availability, and limitations.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SmartScan is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
We do not guarantee that:
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SmartScan and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or unexpected damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the application.
This may include, where legally permitted, loss of data resulting from device failure, accidental deletion, application failure, storage problems, backup failure, synchronization problems, Google Drive issues, or other third-party service interruptions.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability or legal right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Your use of SmartScan is also governed by the SmartScan Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains what information SmartScan accesses and how Google services may process information when you use features such as Google Sign-In, Google Drive Backup, advertising, analytics, crash reporting, and Google Play purchases.
SmartScan is intended for users aged 13 and older.
If you are under 13, please do not use SmartScan.
By using SmartScan, you confirm that you meet the applicable age requirement.
We may update these Terms when SmartScan's features, services, or legal requirements change.
When important changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of these Terms and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the application.
Your continued use of SmartScan after updated Terms become effective means that you accept the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
